About Laura Boesen
I created The Creative Sentence after working as an educator inside correctional facilities, where I supported individuals both preparing for reentry and living out their life in prison.
That experience shaped everything. I saw how rare it was for people to have space to slow down, process emotions, and reflect honestly. Not because they didn’t want to, but because they didn’t know how to.
Over time, I saw what happened when people were given the opportunity to write without judgment. While this work was inspired by my time in correctional education, it was intentionally designed to extend beyond it.
Today, The Creative Sentence is used in classrooms, recovery spaces, small groups, and by individuals navigating their own growth and healing.
I hold two master’s degrees:
M.S. Behavioral Analysis and Modification
M.Ed. Leadership and Sport Psychology
My work now focuses on advancing effective, human-centered approaches within the criminal justice system.
Outside of this work I’m married to Bryan, a college football coach. We’ve moved around quite a bit in the Midwest with our Goberian (Golden Retriever / Husky) named Wrigley. I’ve gotten good at finding community where we land, and am someone who will say yes to almost any adventure.
Whether you’re here to do the work yourself, support someone else, or bring this into your community… I’m glad you’re here.
